SAT & ACT preparation · New Jersey & online
Score,
guaranteed.
Families speak in results.
Tutors speak in hours.
ResultsPrep is built the other way around. We agree on your goal — whatever it is; a 1200 or a 1550 on the SAT, a 28 or a 34 on the ACT, or any target in between — and I guarantee it. Reach the score, or the results fee comes back to you. You pay for the outcome, not the clock.
About
Thirty-five years.
One craft.
I've been doing this since 1989 — before most of my students, and many of their parents, were born, when test prep was still finding its footing. Since then I've taught and tutored thousands of students across the full range of ability and ambition, trained other teachers, and built materials for some of the most respected names in the field, including The Princeton Review.
What thirty-five years produces isn't just knowledge of the tests. It's pattern recognition — seeing, almost at once, what a student's particular mistakes reveal about how they're thinking, and fixing the thinking, not just the answer. It's a diagnostic instinct no algorithm can replicate and no credential can confer.
I started ResultsPrep to return to what matters most: working directly with students, with full attention and real investment in how they do. No corporate structure. No franchise. No quotas. Just me, the student, the work — and the satisfaction of watching a score land where it needs to be.
How it works
What working together actually looks like
No intake form. No placement test before you've spoken to a human. No package to buy before you know what you need. Here's what actually happens.
Consultation
We talk. You tell me about your student, the goal, and the timeline; I tell you honestly whether it feels realistic and how I'd approach it. Free, no obligation.
Assessment
Two short assessments: a MindPrint profile that maps how your student learns, and a full SAT or ACT diagnostic that shows exactly where the points are hiding.
Plan
I turn that into a granular study plan built around your student — what to work on, in what order, and how we reach the goal. It's yours to keep, whatever you decide next.
Engagement
We do the work — focused sessions aimed where they move the score most, with targeted practice in between and honest check-ins along the way. No wasted hours.
The guarantee
I put the score in writing.
Most tutors won't. We agree on a specific target score before we begin. If your student does the assigned work and doesn't reach it on the first official attempt, a second attempt is included at no charge — and if we still fall short, the results fee, the largest part of what you pay, comes back to you in full. The plan is yours to keep either way.
I guarantee goals up to 1550 on the SAT, and the equivalent on the ACT — and only when the assessment shows the score is truly within reach. I won't promise what I can't responsibly deliver. If your goal isn't realistic yet, you'll hear it from me before you spend a dollar on prep.
In their words
Results families talk about
I was honestly dreading SAT prep, but Reed made it bearable. He didn't waste time teaching me stuff I already knew. We went straight to the math concepts where I was struggling and he helped me fix them in like four or five sessions. The efficiency was top-tier.
We had worked with two other tutors before finding Reed, and the difference was immediately apparent. Within the first session, he had identified missteps in Ben's approach to reading questions that neither of the previous tutors had noticed. The preparation was efficient, focused, and remarkably calm. We would not hesitate to recommend Reed to any family that is serious about results.
If you want someone who is going to be straight up with you and actually help you improve, go to Reed. He saw that I was missing some of the easy questions and helped me fix my focus. My score is finally where I need it to be for my reach schools.
My daughter was shooting for a 1450. Reed told us up front that the goal was realistic, and he was right — my daughter finished with a 1470. Working with someone willing to put the result in writing changed everything.

Questions
Good questions, answered
Do you work in person or online?
Both. In person across central New Jersey — Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset, and Monmouth counties — and with families anywhere over Zoom.
How is the price set?
After the assessment. Once I can see your student's starting point and your goal, I give you one clear price to get there — never an hourly meter that grows the longer it takes.
What happens if we don't reach the goal?
If your student did the assigned work and falls short on the first official attempt, a second attempt is included at no charge. If we still don't reach the goal after that, the results fee is refunded in full — and the plan is yours to keep either way.
How many hours will it take?
However many it takes — that's the whole point. You're paying for the result, not a block of hours.
Do you offer plain hourly tutoring?
It's not how I prefer to work; billing by the hour ties my pay to the clock instead of to your result. But if a family specifically wants a few targeted sessions, I'm glad to help on an hourly basis — just ask.
SAT or ACT?
Both — including helping you decide which test plays to your student's strengths before you commit to one.
When should we start?
Most families begin the summer before or early in junior year, with the PSAT and first official sittings in view. Earlier gives us more room — but I'll always be honest about what's realistic in the time we have.
